Dr Michelle O'Shea

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC): PYL33503

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), trained to Doctoral level at the University of Glasgow. I began my training in 2013 as an Older Adult aligned Trainee Clinical Psychologist. Although my training spanned the entire lifespan, my focus on older adults provided me with significant experience in both Adult and Older Adult services. During this time, I developed a particular interest in neuropsychology as well as supporting people to live well with neurological and physical health conditions.

Upon qualifying in 2016, I worked within an Older Adult Mental Health Team and a Young Onset Dementia service. Since then, I have gained extensive experience in Neuropsychology services, providing neuropsychological assessments and working therapeutically with individuals living with conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Tics and Tourette’s, and various forms of Dementia.

Throughout my career, I have developed a strong passion for supporting individuals with physical health conditions to navigate their diagnosis and improve their quality of life. A new diagnosis can often feel overwhelming, sometimes even derailing a person’s sense of meaning and purpose. In my work, I help clients explore how they would like their lives to look, identify what is most important to them, and use evidence-based psychological therapies to help them move towards living a life that aligns with these values.

I also work with adults facing a range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief, insomnia, adjustment issues, and life transitions. My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Informed Therapy. My aim is to provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can collaboratively explore your concerns and develop strategies to help you move forward.

I offer appointments both in person at my Glasgow City Centre office and online, depending on your needs and preferences.

I work as an expert witness, providing medico-legal assessments for personal injury cases. For more information about the type of expert witness work that we do at Harris Psychology see this page. I have completed the Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate in 2024, that is accredited by Aberdeen University.

Outside of work, I am an keen runner and open water swimmer!
